Holes Relationship
Family
The theme family was mostly shown in holes when Stanley and his mom used to write letters everyday to each other just to check in on each other. This shows that this mother and son relationship was strong and healthy except for when Stanley once lied that he was doing alright at camp just to make sure his mom doesn’t worry too much back at home
But in Othello, Desdemona and Brabantio seemed like a normal father and daughter in the old times but that relationship ended when Brabantio was alerted that Othello and Desdemona has secretly married without telling other family first
Racism
In Holes, racism was shown by Sam when he wasn’t allowed to marry the woman because of his skin color so they killed him which means that in the story Holes, they portrayed racism as a real life struggle that happens very often.
Further to that, Zero was judged by his fellow inmates due to his skin color. They thought he was clueless and quiet unlike normal people that’s why his nickname is Zero which means nothing existing in his mind
