Analogy aids understanding because it is used to explain phenomenons that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
>>> particle theory and the balls
however it is quite dangerous if the analogy is of completely different things that are unrelated to each other. this can create misunderstandings that can lead to false knowledge to be relayed to other people. Furthermore, some people may interpret the analogy differently. If A and B share 2 common features but the analogy only uses one of those features, the person may interpret the analogy as having the other feature rather than the correct feature.
therefore, you need to clarify how one analogy can be used to predict something.
also depends on the strength of the analogy. The strength of the analogy relies on the similarities between the two things. The stronger the analogy, the more alike the two things are, therefore, less confusion will be made and the more chances the true knowledge will be relayed to the other person.
