- - - - elbows (olecranon - most common), fingers, achilles
      - may be fixed or movable + usually non-tender
      - also in other CTDs incl SLE
      - subcut
    - - localised redness in superficial nasal portion of eye causing tenderness + discomfort
      - non-specific reaction, occurs in other disorders
    - - skin leg ulcers
      - splinter haemorrhages + necrotic areas @ finger tips (infarcts of terminal arts)
      - can also be in SLA + PAN
    - - nodules (look like mets, double check with CT, histologically identical to rheumatoid nodules)
      - fibrosis (check for RA when you think a patient has idiopathic pul fibrosis)
      - pleural effusions
      - bronchiolitis obliterans (inflamm in bronchioles causing obstruction)
    - - GN
      - amyloid
      - meds
      - much more common in SLE
    - - triad of severe RA, splenomegaly + neutropenia
      - more strongly a/w +ve RF
    - - compression neuropathies
      - cervical myopathy with atlantoaxial (C1-2) subluxation - rare
- - - - these proinflamm effects result in synovitis + ultimately erosion of cart/bone
- - - - several HLA-DRB1 molecules share common AA sequence a/w RA, sometimes called the "shared epitope"
