INDICATIONS
- spinal cord tumors
- cyts
- arachnoiditis
- spinal nerve root injury
- neurofibromas
- spinal stenosis
- cervical spondylosis
- spinal tuberculosis
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- increased intracranial pressure
- intracranial disease
- infection at puncture site
- coagulopathy
ADVANTAGES
- defines extent of subarachnoid space, identifies spinal block.
DISADVANTAGES
- invasive and have complication such as CSF leak, headache, contrast reactions.
- ioinizing radiation and iodinated contrast.
- limited coverage
PT PREPARATION
- explain procedure to pt
- make sure pt signed consent form
- ensure puncture area was cleaned
