Factors that affect climate
Wind
Storms
Happens in the U.S.A
Thunderstorms and rain usually happen in the summer or fall
The storm is created when two air masses collide together and then that will create a storm
To make the a storm out of the air masses they have to be different temperatures
Fronts
Fronts are created when the westerlies meet the polar easternerlies
Fronts can create blizzards and other violent storms
Air
Has wiegth
Changes the temperature
Has some patterns
Prevailing winds
Always on the move
Same direction
Sun, light, (latitude)
Locations are warmer than others
Earths tilt and axis
If it is more tilted to the sun than it will get warmer than other ones
when the Earth spins it also creates seasons
The suns' rays are more direct to the center of the Earth
But in the Poles you will get less sunlight and that means you won't get as much heat
When they are near the equator they have lower latitudes and are much hotter
When at higher latitudes it will be colder because it won't get as much sun
Land forms
Mountains
Are usually in hotter places but are cold
The temperature decreases when you are higher up
The side of the mountain that is facing the wind has more vegetation. ( This is called the Rain Shadow Effect )
Mountains can also create wet and dry areas.
Ocean currents
This is because the wind makes the ocean currents move
They can carry either cold or warm temperatures of air
The warm waters rise the temperature and the cold water lowers it
Water heats up and cools down slower than land objects
