Road
A road is any highway and any other road, to which the public has access, and includes bridges over which a road passes. This includes public highways, footpaths, bridleways maintained at publics expense. RTA 1988
Highway
All roads, briges, carriageways, cartways, horseways, bridleways, footways, causeways, churchways and pavements
Carriageways
Means a way constituting or comprised in a highway, being a way (Other than a cycle track) Over which the public have a right of way for the passage of vehicles.
Definition of a Highway
A Highway is a way over which the public has the tight to pass and repass by foot, horse, vehicle or with animals.
Highways include public bridleways and footpaths; they also include public bridges over which they pass.
Carriageway
A Carriageway - a Highway of part of a highway, not being a cycle track, with a right of way for vehicles - section 329 HA 1980
Public Place
Any place, to which the public has access, whether on payment or otherwise RTA 1988 / 1991
Driver
A person engages in the driving of a vehicle
In control of speed and steering of vehicle
Can also include a separate person acting as a steersman
