Enzymes

Enzymes are important to metabolism because without them chemical processes on their own would take too long to complete.

Only a specific part of the enzyme is bound to the substrate, this is called the active site.

Enzymes shapes are not rigid, and they have the flexibility to conform to the shape of the substrate.
The induced fit is the shapeshifting that occurs after initial contact that optimally positions the active sites for the catalysis. (Similar to firm handshake)
