What happened to haiti?

Haiti is an lidc so there were many people living in shanty towns all over the country which left them all very vulnerable after the earthquake
A reasonable assumption was 200,000 people died but due to the lack of communication and statistics throughout the country there was likely to have been many more deaths than 200,000
