Definition: Acceptance of an actors authority to govern by either internal subjects or by outside sovereign actors

Sovereignty
State ability to rule itself independently of others
and have complete control within their borders
To be sovereign you need:
- A permanent population
- A defined territory and borders
- Effective gouvernement
- Capacity and legitimacy to enter into
relations with other states
Internal Sovereignty
The ability of state to exert legitimate control over its population and manage independently

States ability to be recognized as sovereign by other states, without interference
