Under the sponge bone there is a medially cavity, where red or yellow marrow is placed

Medullary cavity is padded out with the endosteum- thin, connective membrane

Compact bone is surrounded by the periosteum

The whole bone is made of small units called osteons Transverse_Section_Of_Bone

Periosteum is richly vascularized and innervated, it is responsible for the bone protection and supplying with all necessary ingredients

Bone grows in length thanks to the epiphyseal line. It is made of cartilage, which has the ability to grow by mitosis

As far as the growth in thickness is concerned, it happens by dint of two simultaneuos processes

Osteoblasts, which are located in the periosteum, can form a compact bone due to stress and muscle activity

Osteoclasts inside the endosteum break down the inside surface of the bone. The process protects the bone from being excessively heavy

Spine spine

It is made of 33 bones stacked one on top of the other

The whole spine can be divided into 5 parts

Chest ribcage

Chest consists of 2 parts

Ribcage ribcage 2

There are 7 pair of ribs attached to sternum directly. They are called true ribs

3 another ribs are called false ribs, because they are attached to 7th via cartilage

Remaining 2 ribs are known as the floating ribs, which are not attached to sternum
