dialogue is a process in which people let go of the notion that their ideas are more correct or superior to others and instead seek to understand an issue from many different perspectives
sometimes it is hard to be modest and listen to others.
parliamentary procedure
a problem-solving method in which specific rules govern the way issues may be discussed and decisions made
a session that uses parliamentary procedure observes specific rules about how topics may be discussed and decisions made
the group I've work with rarely set up the parliamentary procedure
nominal group technique
a method for including the idea of all group members in a problem-solving session
because people in groups often can't resist the tendency to criticize one another's idea, the nominal group technique was developed to let members brainstorm ideas without being attacked
I've never use the nominal group technique before but it sounds like a useful technique to reduce conflict
