Who?
Marco Polo was an Italian merchant who traveled to China on the Silk Road and who served the Kublai Khan for 17 years.
Kublai Khan was the grandson of Genghis Khan, the ruler of the Mongol Empire. He wanted to conquer China and he did and became their ruler. He was also the ruler of the Yuan Dynasty.

The Mongols were unable to conquer Japan because the job was uncostly due to a typhoon struck them during battle damaging all ships and killed soldiers.
The Yuan Dynasty united China, it gave more opportunities to China,and it also made a few changes to Chinese cultures and their system of government.
The Mongols gave most high government post ti foreigners so Kublai could help rule successfully and because there was a larger number of foreigners than Mongols.
What?
In 1368, the Yuan Dynasty was overthrown. The military was defeated, there was heavy spending and high taxes, which caused the fall if the Yuan Dynasty.

The Mongols stayed in separated areas from the Chinese and relied on laws and rules of their culture.
