three ways you can affect visual tone
Exposure: how much light you allow into the camera. It also allows us to make contrast and shadows. :tada:
For example, in the god father, the author use the exposure to taels the identity, characteristics, and the things they are doing of the characters.
Art direction: how much tonal difference there is in your set dressing. It can shows what is this characterās style, identity, and feeling by using props, set dressing and wardrobe. :tada:
For example, a person who dressed in black will probably has relation with some dark plot.
Lighting :how you light the scene. It allows us to make contrast and shadows, and change the feeling of the characters. :tada:
For example, the backlight in the Raging Bull create the feeling of larger-than-life silhouette.
