When Will I Get Paid!
What was the performance?
Live?
Has the performance been claimed on a Performance Report?
No
Broadcast on Radio or TV?
Radio
TV
For any TV broadcast royalty, we need to have a cue sheet of what musical works were used in the production. A cue sheet will contain the duration of the works as heard in the production, how the works were included in the production (such as if they were in the background or perhaps played over the credits), and who is the known composer/songwriter of the works.
We currently are provided with cue sheets by the TV stations we licence, but if you have a copy of the cue sheet, please send it to your local Representative so we can ensure we have a record of it if required.
Streamed on a music app, website or VOD service?

Film Screening
Film screenings are paid via logs we receive from cinema box offices. For any film screening royalty, we need to have a cue sheet of what musical works were used in the production. A cue sheet will contain the duration of the works as heard in the production, how the works were included in the production (such as if they were in the background or perhaps played over the credits), and who is the known composer/songwriter of the works.
If you have a copy of the cue sheet, please send it to your local Representative so we can ensure we have a record of it if required.
Played as background music
APRA AMCOS currently distributes background music at most locations to a mixture of radio and streaming service logs. But if your music was exclusively used, on-loop or as a part of an in-store experience or installation, for example; you might be entitled to claim the usage outside of our standard reporting processes. Please fill out this form with as much detail as you have at hand and we will formally look into this for you.
Sold on a CD, DVD or Vinyl
Did you sell the CD/DVD/Vinyl?
Yes
Mechanical royalties (royalties arising from the sale of a physical product such as a CD, DVD or Vinyl) are included in the sale price of the product. As such, if you are selling the product and keeping the sale price, you will need to ensure that all copyright holders are receiving their portion of mechanical royalties. If you own all the mechanical copyright, you are already paid! If you don't, you may need to obtain a licence to ensure that your collaborators are paid what is legally due to them. Please fill out this form and a member of our revenue team can get in touch with some next steps.
No, a record label sold it/distributed it
Record labels can either pay you your due mechanical royalties direct as part of a direct deal or they can pay AMCOS if a deal isn't in place. Mechanical royalties from sales are paid on a quarterly basis, in the below schedule, but if you're not sure that you have a direct deal or if you're covered by AMCOS, get in touch with your local Representative.

Is the work registered with APRA AMCOS?
Not yet
We can only pay performances out to verified works - so you'll need to register it! Don't worry, works that weren't registered at time of performance will be held for three years after date of distribution, so you won't have missed out if your performance is within this timeframe.
