Aboriginal languages (such as the Yolgnu sign language) were modified to include modern words introduced by the Europeans, words such as iPads, Facebook and mobile phones.
Children were forced to go to English speaking schools and were not allowed to speak their traditional language

Many Aboriginal languages were lost as, up until the 1970s government policies banned and discouraged Aboriginal people from speaking their languages. Members of the stolen generations are of this group.
