        When having conversations with a student it is important to do this away from the rest of the class. Simple redirections can happen in class but should be short and something that the entire class can benefit from. However this type of conversation should be done in private and should be done either in the hallway or after class.

        When a student or group of students continue to disrupt class there needs to be consequences. A simple consequence is to take away their end of class free time. The Army has developed an effective method of discipline where when one person makes a mistake the entire group gets punished. Therefore the group starts to police themselves in an attempt to collectively reap the rewards. This is effective strategy to use if there is a group of students who are consistently talking. By punishing the entire class, other students will also police these disruptive students. However if this is a single student then this is not a smart strategy.
        
        When a student shows positive behavior it is vital to praise them. a student should not only receive negative communication from the teacher.
        
        Many times simple nonverbal cues can notify a student that their behavior needs correcting. With talking students a simple shushing motion can easily convey this message. Non-Verbal cues are much more effective after having a one on one conversation with a student. Here the student already knows your expectations.
        
        If a student or a group of students are continually being disruptive then it is important to have a discussion and talk to the personally about their behavior and ways to correct it.
        
        For persistent talkers, or if being in direct proximity to the student is not advantageous, simple phrases such as pleas be quiet can be effective means to control disruptive behavior.
      - Many times just being near a student will notify them that their behavior is not ok. When students are talking just walking near them may be enough to make them realize their behavior is not acceptable
  - - - Alternatives To Suspension
        
        Instill all the methods and techniques from Tier 1. Your goal as a teacher is to be the least disruptive to the class environment and to instill a good flow. When a student is suspended they will be removed from class and thus not be receiving instruction. Suspension should always be a last resort.
      - When Tier 1 classroom management support is not working, reduce the benefits given to students and increase the consequences for bad behavior. It is important to make it know that this is not a power struggle, but at the same time be more strict. disruptive classes do not get fun rewards. Take away privileges and rewards until behavior improves. When students start behaving better start reintroducing privileges and rewards.

        Daily Behavior Form
        
        The daily behavior form is an alternative to check in's and check outs. This form has students self assess how they behaved that day in class. How are they doing on their behavior contract? Are they accomplishing their goals?
        
        This is a way to help the student achieve their behavior contract goals. By checking in every day the student can share any problems they are having that day and discuss them with the teacher. The teacher can then help the student make a goal specific for the day.
        At the end of the day the teacher and student can review how the day went and if the student achieved the goals they set for them self.
        
        The behavior contract allows you to discuss with the student what is and isn't acceptable. It will outline clear expectations with clear consequences for not meeting those expectations. The contract can also outline goals and allow time for the student to adjust and assimilate into the class culture.
      - when a single student has trouble controlling them self create a meeting and make a behavior plan. start creating written plans and implement daily self checks

        There are many combinations of strategies and as a teacher you should try different combinations until a solution is found. Everyone will respond differently and some combination that worked for one student may not work for another.
        
        Sometimes other students can share some insight on how to act. A student who has had problems in the past can assist a student currently having problems and help them find ways of dealing
        
        Have the student remove them self, may it be from the cause of their distraction or even from class itself. By removing them self they can collect their thoughts and realize their behavior. maybe there is a stimulus that is causing their behavior and by removing them self they can also separate them self from the stimulus.
        
        Sometimes it will not take just one method but a combination
      - There are extreme steps that can be taken when nothing else has worked.

        Also needs explicit parental/guardian approval. When a student has a known behavioral or mental condition then coordinating with medical providers can help create an environment that is beneficial for the student and the class.
        
        This needs to be done with explicit parental/guardian approval. When a student is severely having trouble in class and there may be external forces that may be driving their behavior.
