The End of Mongol Rule
The Mongols Mongols began their decline after the death of Kubai in 1294. From there the dynasty became weak and the Mongols lost all of their power.
Mongol Rule in China
Mongols lived apart from the Chinese and obeyed different laws. They kept the Chinese out of high government offices, although they retained as many Chinese officials as possible to serve on the local level. Most of the highest government posts went to Mongols or to foreigners. The Mongols believed that foreigners were more trustworthy since they had no local loyalties.
He
restored the Grand Canal and extended it 135 miles north to Beijing. Beijing. Along its
banks he built a paved highway that ran some 1,100 miles, from Hangzhou to
Beijing. These land and water routes ensured the north a steady supplyof grain and
other goods from the southern heartland.
Foreign trade increased under Kublai Khan. This was largely due to the Mongol Peace, which made the caravan routes across Central Asia safe for trade and travel. Traders had Chinese products and inventions as
printing, gunpowder, the compass, paper currency, and playing cards.
Marco Polo traveled the Silk Roads by caravan with his dad and uncle and learned several asain languages. He was a explorere and a storyteller of his own journey. He served Khan for 17 years. Someone took Polos stories and turned it into a great book.

The Rise of the Mongols
Originally the mongols were directionless and not very powerful. It wasn't until Genghis Khan united them that they became powerful. Genghis Khan went around all Asia conquering various settlements and empires. This reign lasted around 21 years. Genghis Khan made this possible because he was a great strategist and leader. He also had a very large army.
From the start the Mongols were fairly decent rulers. They would allow any village or settlement to keep their original religion and wouldn't force them in to slavery, which was a big plus back then.
