Freedoms that enable active participation
Freedom of Association
Freedom of association refers to the right to peacefully form or join a group, club or organisation without being stopped.
Freedom of Assembly
Freedom of assembly refers to the right to peacefully gather or meet in public or private places. This may be in small or large groups, for any reason that might be religious, political or in celebration.
Freedom of speech
Freedom of speech is an important part of any democracy. It refers to our right to express information, opinions and beliefs without fear of the government preventing us or punishing us for it.
Types of laws in Australia
Civil Law
Civil law protects individuals. It typically deals with disputes between individuals over an action (or lack of action) that results in loss or harm.
Criminal Law
A criminal law is a law that is illegal and you can get in trouble for doing it

Customary Law is when the law differs depending on what your religion or beliefs are

A lobby Group is when a bunch of people get together and try and change something together e.g. law

Australia day for Europeans is seen as the day that Australia was found and claimed and started to be a country. But for the Aboriginals it is seen as the day that they got there land taken from them

Reconciliation day is when the Europeans started to accept the Aboriginals into Australia

Aboriginal Perspectives on Australian identity is that it was very unfair for the Aboriginals because the Europeans took there land and put them in jail

Multiculturalism is when Australia started accepting all races into Australia and making it multicultural

Passing a Bill
First Reading
Reader Reads out the Bill to the senate
Second Reading
Members of the senate then get time to read the bill by them selves
Vote (Yes/No) to pass the bill
The Members of the senate vote whether or not to pass the bill
Governor General Passes the Bill
Governor General passes the Bill and it becomes a active law
Through Courts ( common law)
By members of the public and the judge deciding whether or not to pass the bill
Black Death
The Black Death is a disease that sped across Europe during the time of 1330CE and Ended in 1350CE
Symptoms
The symptoms of the Black Death were lumps of infected skin that got infected and spread around the body
Treatments
A few treatments for the Black Death were Cutting which is where you cut the chunk of infected skin out of your body. Another one is Bloodletting where you take all the infected blood out of the body and wait for the body to make some more.
Amount of Deaths
Over 50 Million people died from the Black Death which was over 60 percent of Europe's Population
