- - - - SAMR model + Blooms: technology as a way to modify/redefine instruction. Inclusive in all levels of Blooms but can be used to engage students in higher-level thinking.
        
        5E plan model - engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate
        Use with technology to connect, but is important to plan/implement all the time! Many educators already unknowingly implement the 5E's (without technology connection), but with this lesson plan model we as teachers can start making these decisions more deliberately/more purposefully.
    - - Approaches to Teaching Reading: Basal, Literature-Based, Individualized Reading
  - - - Teaching Predicting - important to emphasize that the goal isn't to be "right"! use your knowledge to make the guess to keep engaged and see what happens next!
- - - - Whether through content or from books available in a classroom library, each student should be able to recognize themselves - this creates a "mirror" for them and allows them to feel seen and represented. Students should also be able to learn/read about people who are different from them - creating a "window" into how other people live and view the world. The creation of windows in classrooms can improve a students acceptance and empathy.
        
        The importance of "mirrors and windows" is a conversation I had frequently in my EDEL 244 course. The concept can be applied to race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and so much more.

"THE First Days of School" textbook written Wong & Wong details how an educator should script their first day so that their class runs smoothly right off the bat.
        
        Lesson plans for online instruction: plan for how content will be shared, utilize tools and instruments, plan for technology failures
    - - An effective teacher as positive expectations for their students. Students will often achieve what is expected for them; if a teacher believes they will fail, then the students have no reason to try and will ultimately fail in the classroom. If a teacher beielves their students will succeed, then the students will strive for that success.
