STRESS: Ms. R's 3rd Grade Class
Stress is the body's response to a new or threatening situation, which disrupts homeostasis.
Distress is bad stress. This stress is harmful to our minds and bodies. Examples: Death, Accidents, Divorce.
Eustress is good stress. This creates motivation for us. Examples: Competitions, Big events, Projects.
HOW DOES STRESS EFFECT MY BODY??
What does it feel like? Motivation to complete projects, attend events, do a good job.
What does it feel like. Overwhelming and makes you feel like you cannot do anything. Anxiety and Depression.
What Can I do when I am stressed?
Talk to a trusted adult.
Take time to calm down: listen to music, go outside, meditate.
Ask for help: Parents/Guardians, Friends, Teachers can help you.
BRAIN effects: Stroke, anxiety, depression
HEART effects: Heart disease, heart attack
LUNGS effects: Asthma, breathing problems
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM effects: Ulcers, constipation,
diarrhea
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM effects: High blood pressure
