Anatomy of Long Bone
Distal Epiphysis: rounded part of the bone at the end of the diaphysis pointing away from the body, has spongy bone and covered in articular cartilage

Proximal Epiphysis: it is pointing toward the center of the body rounded bone, made up of spongy bone, and covered in cartilage

Epiphyseal Plate: the growth plate, is a hyaline cartilage plate at each end of the bone

Types of Bones
Flat Bone: are thin, flattened and usually bit curved like the sternum, scapulae, ribs, and most cranial bones are flat
Short Bone: roughly cube shaped like of the wrist and ankle. Sesamoid bone is a special type of short bone form in a tendon like the patella.
Long Bone: they are longer than wide, has a shaft plus two ends which are often expanded * ALL are long bones except patella,wrist,and ankle bones
Irregular Bone: complicated shapes that fit none of the preceding classes like vertebrae and hip bones
