Pharmacokinetic
Absorption - Maximum plasma concentration is reached in 2 - 3 hours after adminstration. Plasma half life of ceftriaxone is roughly 8 hours
Distribution - Ceftriaxone penetrates and body fluids well to treat central nervous system infections. The average volume of distribution in adults 5.8 - 13.5 litres

Elimination - Renal elimination is 5-12 mL/min and 50-60% of ceftriaxone is excreted unchanged in the urine.

2g of Ceftriaxone in 40ml of calcium free solution such as sodium chloride 0.9% or fertile water for injections
Mechanism of Action
Certriaxone works by selectively inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the transpeptidases by binding to these enzymes forming the bacteria cell wall
