Managing Discipline in the Classroom
Disciplinary Interventions
Research has found that disciplinary interventions result in a decrease in disruptive behavior among almost 80 %.
Most appropiate when teacher:
Wishes to enhance his/her relationship with the student.
Is circulating the classroom.
Wants to restore order without making a situation a major issue.
Is instructing.
Wants an inmediate change of behavior.
Reinforcement: Recognition for positive behavior.
Punishment: Consequence of inappropriate behavior.
No immediate consequence: Warning or reminder.
Combined Punishment & Reinforcement.

A dedicated room where students are sent to think about their behavior, in order not to disrupt the regular classroom
