Aulë made the dwarfs between the mountains of the middle earth and desired the company of the Children of Ilúvatar so he could teach his knowledge and skills to them.
Melkor who is no longer counted among the Valar, his name is not spoken upon Earth.

Melkor
His name was set in might, but that name has been forfeited. The Noldor who are amongst the elves suffered from most of his malice. He was coeval with Manwë and given great might by Ilúvatar. He turned his powers and knowledge to evil purposes and used his strength in tyranny and violence.
He desired the kingship of Manwë, used his most evil works upon Arda, and filled it with fear for all living things.
