Aquatic Habitat
Freshwater habitat
rivers, lakes, ponds & streams are examples of freshwater habitats
Fish, Frog, Duck, Lotus & water lily are found in freshwater habitats
Marine habitat
Oceans & seas are examples of marine habitats
Their water is salty
Tiny plankton, Blue whale, Fish, Whale, Shark, Jellyfish, Crab, Starfish, Sea turtle, Octopus & Seaweed are found in the marine habitat
Costal habitat
Coastal habitat refers to the region where the land meets the sea
Estuaries
They are regions where salty water and fresh water mix.
The animals found in estuaries are crab, oyster, waterfowl & worm
The plants found in estuaries are Mangroves, Seaweed & Marsh grasses.
The sunderban delta,Spread across West Bengal & Bangladesh, is the largest mangrove forest in the world
Coral reefs
They are rock like structures made from calcium carbonate secreted by corals.
Corals, Sea anemones, Starfish, Octopus, Sea urchins & a variety of fish are found in coral reefs.
Examples are the Great Barrier Reef in Australia & those of Andaman & Nicobar islands
Deserts
Desert are areas that receive very little rainfall
Examples of deserts are Sahara, Kalahari & Thar desert
Cactus, Camel, Rattlesnake, Gila monster & kangaroo rat are organisms that are found in deserts.
Some deserts are very cold. ex: Gobi desert in China
Forests
Tropical forests
It is also known as rain forests
The plants found in these forests are Orchid, vine, moss & fern
The animals found in these forests are Bat, Gorilla, Monkey, Jaguar, Sloth, Macaw, Toucan & a variety of insects
Temperate forests
They are found in eastern North America, notherneast Asia & western & central Europe
The plants found in these forests are Maple, Oak & Elm
The animals found in these forests are fox, bald eagle, mountain lion, bobcat & black bear
Boreal forests
They are also known as Taiga.
These forests are found in Canada, Russia, Scandinavia, China, Mongolia & nothern Japan
The plants found in these forests are evergreen plants such as pine, fir & spruce
The animals found in theses forests are wolf, lynx, fox, deer, woodpecker, hare, bat, bear, moose & chipmunk
Mountains and Polar regions
The earth's polar regions and tall mountains are extremely cold
Polar Bear, Penguin, Seal & Walrus are found in polar regions
Mountain goat, Sheep, Yak & snow leopard are some animal s found in the mountains
Grasslands
grasslands provide shelter to a large variety of animals such as giraffe, zebra, lion, elephant & gazelle
Grasslands are regions dominated by grasses
