Anatomy Of Long Bone
Long Bones are long and wide , at the end there is the epiphysis and the shaft is Diaphysis , when the bone is done growing the bone consists of connective tissue
-
Microscopic Anatomy Of The Compact Bone Tissue
Compact Tissue can be found under the periosteum and in the diaphyses of the long bone , it also provides support and protection
The microscopic structure of this unit are called Ostean
Each Ostean is composed of the concentric rings of calcified matrix called lamellae
-
-
Bone Remodeling
When a bone is continually being broken down and changed ( reformed ) in shape
Balance between actions of Osteoclasts and Osteoblasts

Bones ( Names )
-
Types Of Bones
Long Bones - Provides strength , structure and mobility
Short Bone - They provide structure and stability with little to no movement
Flat Bones - They provide extensive protection or a provision of broad surface
Sesamoid Bones - They modified pressure , to diminish friction
Irregular Bones - They protect nervous tissue , they also maintain pharynx and trachea support
-
Bone Fracture Repair
Reduction - Bone is set , realigned and immobilized by cast or traction
Hematoma - Blood filled swelling caused by broken blood vessels , deprives bones cell of nutrients and die
Fibrocartilage Callus - mass of repair tissue forms a splint to close the gap in
Bony Callus replaces fibrocartilage callus by actions of osteoblast and osteoclasts
Bony callus is remolded to form a permanent patch
-
Joints
Located were bones come together
Articular surfaces of the adjacent bones can move smoothly against each other
-
Male / Women Pelvic
Difference is that women pelvic is longer and broader then the males
The women pelvic is more narrow , compact and taller
-
Synovial Joints
Movements
They are Abduction ( Away ) , Adduction ( Towards ) , Extension ( Open ) , Flexion ( Close ) , and Rotation
-
Disorders Osteoporosis - Bone thinning disease that makes bones fragile Sprain - Ligaments or tendons reinforcing joints are torn or stretched Inflammatory Condition Of Joints
Bursitis- Inflammation of a bursa usually caused by a blow or Friction
Tendonitis - Inflammation of tendon sheaths
Arthritis - Inflammatory or degenerative disease of joints
Osteoarthritis - Most common chronic arthritis
- Probably related to normal aging processes , physical trauma , repetitive motion
Rheumatiod Arthritis - Autoimmune disease , immune system attacks joint
