Later that evening she over hears Atticus and Jack talking Atticus says Tom Robinson is innocent but doomed as he is going agaisnt an all white jury.
Chapter 10
Mad dog lose is Maycomb

Jem and Scout are shocked when they see that Atticus shot the dog with one shot.
Miss Maudie later tells them that Atticus used to be known as "one shot Finch" this gives them a sence of family pride.

Everytime Jem and Scout walk past she tells them Atticus is not any better than the "niggers and trash he works for".
