The Procedure for Learning Support
Step 1: Find the Child :pencil2:
School and teachers get informed by parents.
Students will be documented on file and be flagged as "SEN" students
School and teachers get informed by students' background and former school report.
Students will be documented on file and be flagged as "SEN" students
Teachers are concerned about students with some behavioral signs or low academic performance over a period of time.
Teachers link certain signs to certain learning difficulties: such as Autism, behavior disturbance, ect. ("What are Some Signs for Learning Disabilities.", 2019)
Fill in the "Student Inquiry and Analysis" (SIA) form to call for an observation
Special Education teacher/Learning support teacher go to classroom and observe students and decide if they need further attention for extra support
If students are qualified to learning support categories, special edcuation specialists will hold an SIA meeting with special learning teachers, homeroom teachers or principals if it is needed.
Discuss and decide if students need learning support. And students will be documented on file and be flagged as "SEN" students
If students don't need extra attention from special education team in school, special education specialists will provide resources and learning strategies to teachers to help students within the class.
Step 4: Refer to outside Special Education Provider
If students need further diagnosis or special education help, school and special education team would connect parents with our outside special education provider
Run professional test to diagnose students

Step 2: Get Parents to Involve :red_flag:
Contact parents via email/phone call to inform the concerns and raise their awareness
Teachers set up meeting with parents to talk though the situation and get ideas from parents side
Teachers can provide parents home-friendly activities or strategies to practice at home with their children, such as setting up goals, advocating childern; offering students new solutions and so on. ("Helping Children With Learning Difficulites", 2019)
If students need more official learning support, school and homeroom teachers will call for further meetings with parents to decide IEP for students
Step 3: Differentiate groups :silhouettes:
Based on the information teachers, school and parents provided, students will receiving different assessments and be taken care by different specialists/
Academic learning support
Learning support teachers divide students into different phonics groups, like short vowel groups; digraph groups; blends groups, ect.
Spelling test: to assess students' phonological awareness stage
Reading level test: Fountas & Pinnell ("Fountas & Pinnell Literacy Elevating Teacher Experience", 2019)
Students will be divided into reading intervention group based on their reading levels.
Socio-emotional support
consolars would assess students with different emotional disturbance to decide their groups
Social skill groups (Friendship groups)
Individual sessions with specific needs
Behavior intervention Support
Behavior interventionist will conduct assessments and create Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) ("Behavior Intervention Plans: What You Need to Know", 2019)
