Identifying & Supporting SEN Students
Administer student-wide diagnostic test prior to term start
Identification
Training given to teachers to spot potential SEN students
Training given regularly
Teachers refer any students they feel are SEN for further testing
Teachers meet parents to discuss prior diagnoses of those potential SEN students
Support Systems
All teachers are informed of SEN students
Individual timetables created to fit around SEN students, and their schedules
Work with SEN students to create individual plan to fit their behaviour
Create behaviour log for those SEN students with behavioural problems
Monitor logs for signs of increased behaviour
In class goals & assessments are measured independently
Class activities are multi-sensory, broken down into small tasks
Project work is completed in small groups or individually, to fit SEN students
Teachers coordinate with parents for help with organisation of completed activities
Individual Learning Strategies
Classroom routines are set & followed daily
SEN students' seats are arranged close to the front (near to teacher)
Rules of classroom are repeated daily
