Feminism: Female characters were repeatedly represented as the damsel-in-distress in many comic books and features, so instead of developing a female version of the male heroes, DC Comics developed a new female superhero - Wonder Woman. She symbolized justice, love, and peace and searched for the truth with her lasso. She became a feminist icon, promoting social and economic freedom for women. However, Wonder Woman did run into some issues, specifically concerning her outfit, which resulted in society hyper sexualizing her.
