The "ICY" Room: I- invite curiosity C- celebrate uniqueness I- inspire wonder E- encourage playfulness
I would love for my kindergarteners to build a foundation for understanding how to use everyday materials to create art or functional pieces. The ultimate goal is for the students to learn through exploration and play all while using their creativity and innovative skills. In using recycled materials, students will be able to transfer what they are learning in the classroom into the real-world with their own household items

I would love to utilize makerspace posters to teach my young learners how to use the recycled materials in our classroom to create things. These posters will serve as great visuals for the students to use while working without the help of the teacher, increasing their agency. The use of technical terms on the posters will also expand the students' vocabulary.

I love the idea of using recycled items to create things. I came across this awesome letter to parents that will bring in recycled materials for students to use. We can collect all of the recycled materials and organize them in bins. These bins will serve as great resources when students are ready to create!

Students will be able to utilize recycled materials to create an object as a result of their own creative writing or in response to literature being read in writer's workshop.

L.K.6 With guidance and support, use words acquired through conversations, being read to, and during shared reading activities.

Kibo is a "screen-free programmable robot." Professionals suggest Kibo over other robots because the robot is adaptable so students can use their creativity in personalizing it. They also suggest it as part of a cohesive K-5 Steam program.
Students will be able to "build computer programs out of wooden blocks covered with scannable codes"

I would like to create a "sound corner" located in the classroom library section. Equipped with microphones and headsets. Students can take their chromebooks and create multi-media projects or utilize digital storytelling
