Introduction
The vice-president of India occupies the second highest rank in the country just after the president.
The Vice President model is on the line of American model.

Article 65–The Vice President act as a president during his casual vacancies in the office or during his absence.
Article 66–Election
The Vice President of India is not elect directly by the people,it elect indirectly by the electoral college just like the president.
The Electoral college of the Vice-President considered the members of parliament(both elected and nominated members).
The manner of election of both are same which is proportional representation with single transferable vote with the secret ballot.
Qualifications
A candidate needs to fulfill these qualifications for the election of vice-president post—
1).He must be a citizen of India,
2).He must be a 35 years old,
3).He can also be qualified for the member of the Rajya Sabha,
4).He can not hold any office of profit under the union govt.or state govt.or any other local authority.
Further,The nomination for the vice-president of a candidate needs at least 20 electors as proposer and 20 electors as seconders as subscriber,to fill the nomination with the 15000 rupees as security deposit in the RBI.
Term
He can hold office for the five years of tenure.
He can also resign the post before the completing his tenure to give his resignation letter to the president.
[67(b)].—The Vice President can removed without the formal impeachment,But this resolution is only introduce in the Rajya Sabha and its need effective majority (majority of all the then members of house) and need simple majority of the Lok Sabha,But no such resolution can passed without given 14 days advance notice to the Vice-president.
Notably,no ground of the removal of Vice President inscribed in the constitution.
Power and functions
The power and function of the Vice-President are—
1).He is Act as a Ex-officio chairman of the Rajya Sabha .In that case he has same power as like the speaker of the Lok Sabha
2).In rare occasion,the Vice President act as a president when the president post fall vacant.
The American Vice President act as a president for the unexpired term under the country process but India Vice President act as a president only until the new president assume charge(maximum duration is 6 months).
Oath or affirmation
The oath of the Vice President is administered by the president and in his absence,some person which was appoint by president on his behalf available.
Conditions
1).He can not be a member of the either House of Parliament nor the state legislative assembly if he is then he have to vacated his seat.
2).He also cannot hold any office of profit.
Vacancy
1).The expiry of his tenure,
2).By the resignation,
3).By the removal,
4).By his death,
5).When the election declared void and the president disqualified.
Factual information
1).The original constitution contain the election of Vice-president was held through the joint setting of both the Houses of Parliament But in 11th constitutional amendment act,1961 this provision is repealed and adopt single transferable vote system.
2).D.R S Radhakrishna And Mohammed Hamid Ansari was elected twice for the Vice President.
3).VV giri and BD Jatti act as president ,DR Zakir Hussain and Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed respectively.
4).Naidu is elected in the 15th election of Vice President as a 13th Vice President of India.
