TIA pathophysiology: A temporary occlusion of a vessel of the brain that interrupts blood flow to the brain causing stroke-like symptoms but only lasting a few minutes to just under 24 hours and causing no permanent damage
Signs and symptoms
Weakness, numbness or paralysis in face, arm, or leg, typically on one side of the body

Nursing interventions
Encourage and educate patient to regularly exercise, limit cholesterol and fat in diet, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables
Encourage and educate patient about sticking to renal diet and decreasing sodium, potassium, phosphorous, protein and calcium intake if indicated
