Origin and history
Yellow fever origins most likely lie in Africa, with the transmission of the disease from nonhuman primates to humans. The virus is originated in East or Central Africa and spread from there to West Africa.

How does it spread
Yellow fever virus is transmitted to people primarily through the bite of infected Aedes or Haemagogus species mosquitoes. Mosquitoes acquire the virus by feeding on infected primates (human or non-human) and then can transmit the virus to other primates (human or non-human).
Cause of disease
Yellow fever is an acute infection caused by the yellow fever virus. The virus mainly infects monkeys and humans.
