Slip Casting Method
-
Quality slurry for Slip Casting is determined by the materials, viscosity and thixotropy of the slip. Materials contained in the slip will affect the viscosity and thixotropy of the slip in which Deflocculant is used to reduce viscosity.
Advantages
-
-
Example: Toilet bowls, Bathtub, Vase and Pots atc.
-
Water in Slip Casting
Slip requires a high solid content with conrolled amount of water with suitable viscosity for drying and pouring process.
Casts product with proper density, green strength are optimal quality.
-
Deflocculant
Deflocculant enables to prepare the slip with high solid content in a small amount of water without changing the viscosity.
At normal conditions, the clay particles will stack together in which by adding more mass it will sediment thus producing uneven drying and moister loss.
By adding the proper amount of deflocculant, the clay particles will for a "Spider Web" structure in which the charges areas of the particles will seperate from each other and the charged polls will be attracted and form nets and at the same time holding flux, fillers and other materials distributing them homogeneously.
Too much deflocculant will separate the particles to far apart in which nothing is holding the other materials such and flux and fillers thus will sediment at the bottom leading uneven moister loss and strength of final product.
