DEFINITION OF THE THEORY
Queer Theory:
Queer Theory focuses on eliminating gender norms and discrimination against those who do not follow the traditionary binary sexuality.
Feminist Theory:
Feminist theory focuses on analyzing gender inequality. It aims to understand the inequalities between men and women through social roles, experiences, interests, chores, and etc. It’s goal is to have men and women to be treated equally and eliminate gender stereotypes.
Family Life Cycle:
Family life cycle is a series of stages through which a family may go through overtime.
RELEVANCE
Queer Theory:
There are millions of people today who do not follow the traditional gender/sexuality types. The movie ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ portrays differently sexualities and gender norms.
Feminist Theory:
Women today still are not treated equally to men (ex. Wage gap) and there still are gender stereotypes such as occupations, body image, roles, etc. Mrs. Doubtfire portrays gender roles/norms she tries to follow.
Family Life Cycle:
We all come from sort of family and most of us will grow up to start our own family and there are stages most families will go through. The Hillard family from the movie ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ are dealing with the pleasures, problems, and pressures of the third stage of the family life cycle that is family with young children.

Feminist Theory
1.
Mrs.Doubtfire covers up hairy legs because it’s not feminine like to have hairy legs.

When Daniel was calling Miranda about the housekeeping position as different people, he always portrayed as a woman as if shouldn’t be or have no interest in being a housekeeper.
3.
Daniel has to learn how to cook which displays the idea that men cannot cook and it is a feminine thing.
Family Life Cycle
1.
Daniel and Miranda have different ideas of discipline. Miranda did not want to throw Chris a birthday party due to his low grades but Daniel disagreed with that idea and threw him a party instead.
2.
Daniel and Miranda did not resolve their major issues soon enough which led them to be divided and conquered instead of being a team.
3.
Daniel also has problems with his wife’s mother.
