Important criterion
1) The slip required HIGH SOLID CONTENT WITH
CONTROLLED AMOUNT OF WATER with suitable level of viscosity
2)Produced cast with GOOD PROPERTIES SUCH AS DENSE, solid with good GREEN STRENGTH & not easily cracks
Type of casting
Drain casting
Drain is making hollow product like vase. First step is slip were poured into mold then draining of excess slip. Next is trimming the excess slip and get the finish product
Solid casting
Solid is making dense product like figurines.First step is slip were poured into mold and the water were absorbed to make it product,finished product.
Requirement of slurry
1) High solid content- less water absorbed into mold
2) Suitable slip viscosity- ease of slip into mold and follow shape of mold
3) Suitable thixotropy
4) Stable and no chemical reaction and particle in suspension
