Peer Tutoring
By using the tool of peer tutoring I am able to create a safer, less obvious and embarrassing atmosphere for the student to ask questions, and express misunderstandings. The student receives more time for individualized learning and because of the direct interaction with another student, the student is obligated to stay present and focused and therefore will be less likely to daydream and not pay attention while also engaging in active learning. I will have the peer tutor sit with the student each day for the lessons I notice the student being unable to focus at.
I will implement the following steps in order to track and monitor the students peer mentoring progress:

-
Be sure the peer is Listening, questioning, and responding appropriately to the student receiving assistance
Implement Effective Strategies for Listening, Questioning, and Responding

move position in class
By moving the student closer to me in the front of the room, and through providing an explanation of the process and then having the student practice it before implementation, I am helping break up monotonous tasks, assignments, activities, while also being able to monitor the student closely to make sure they stay on task.etc I will be sure to pause before giving a direction and call the student frequently to be sure they are staying on task.
I will be sure to use a daily positive behavioral tracking form to keep track of when the student is on task and attentive to instruction and following directions
