network performance
speed and bandwidth
Bandwidth
-
Contention ratio
contention ratio is how many nodes shares bandwidth with, a higher contention ratio will slow down your speed
-
Network Performance
Measurement of how well data is transmitted through a network, this factors in speed, error rate
peer to peer
A peer to peer network is connected by a hub/switch, there is no servers so files are kept on each workstation's hard drive
-
-
Peripherals
Peripherals are devices connected to workstations (printers),
if the workstation the peripheral is connected to is switched of or broken then the other workstations will lose access to the peripheral if the peripheral is shared in the first place.
sharing
users can still share files, if the workstation is switched of the other users will loose access to the shared files.
-
client server
disadvatages
costly (cabling, maintenance)
-
-
In a client network the nodes are all connected to a switch/hub which intern is connected to server/s.
