1.4B Network Performance
Network Performance
Network Speed Measurement
Bandwidth And Speed
Contention Ratios
Gigabits per second (GPS) - billions of bits per second.
Megabits per second (MPS) - Millions of bits per second
Kilobits per second (KPS - Thousands of bits per second
Network speed is measure in bits per second - also known as bps.
One bit is a 0 or 1, its the smallest unit of storage.
How To Check Network Speed Performance:
Just searc up on google or any other browser something along the lines of "Network speed test" here is a link to one https://www.speedtest.net/
Meanings:
Bandwidth - The maximum amount of data that can be transferred in a certain amount of time
Speed - The speed at which you can transfer data/resources on one node
If there are 2 people on the same network, that bandwidth is shared, but it isn't shared equally, if someone is downloading a movie that is 2 GB and its downloading really fast that speed is coming away from all the other users
Contention ratios - the number of nodes that can share your bandwidth with, this effects bandwidth and broadband users
some networks are more error prone that other ones such as WiFi whereas cables, which are good.
The further away you get away from them, the you'll crash more frequently.
Home broadband has a contention ratio so at a certain times of the day the bandwidth is better that other parts of the day
