Timeline for Lear, Gloucester, Goneril, Regan & Edmund:
King Lear:
Act 1: Scene 1:
Lear announces that he is going to divide his kingdom between his three daughters Goneirl, Regan and Cordelia by conducting a love test and whoever loves him the most, get's the biggest part of the kingdom. Lear goes mad because he hasd plans to retire into Cordelia's care and now that's not going to happen. When Cordelia refuses to answer, Lear banishes her from the kingdom along with the Earl of Kent who tries to stand up for Cordelia. Lear then gives the Duke of Burgundy and the King of France the chance to win Cordelia's hand & France accepts her as his wife without any inheritance or land. So, Lear divides the kingdom in half making Goneril and Regan co-rulers of the kingdom.
Act 1: Scene 3:
Goneril says that Lear and his 100 knights are abusing their welcome and not treating Goneril's staff or castle with respect.
Act 1: Scene 4:
Lear and his knights return from their hunting trips where he meets Kent disguised as a servant Caius who wants to work for Lear, so he's hired. When Oswald, Goneril's servant, starts to treat Lear disrespectfully, Lear gets annoyed & Kent sends him away. Lear's Fool then entertains them for a while. Goneril then meets with Lear to try and convince him to get rid of half his knights and Lear is shocked at his daughter trying to tell him what to do because as a king, he has never been told what to do. Lear calls Goneril some bad name and then leaves only to come when he realizes that half his knights have already been dismissed. He wishes Goneril was sterile (Unable to have babies) or that if she is to have babies then they make her life a living hell. He then leaves for Regan's castle.
Act 1: Scene 5:
Lear sends Caius (Kent) to Gloucester's castle with letters explaining what has just taken place before Goneril gets to tell her side of the story. Kent then leaves while Lear talks with the Fool where Lear says "I did her wrong", he doesn't say who he has done wrong. They then leave for Regan's castle.
Act 2: Scene 4:
After going to Regan's castle and find out that she's not home, Lear goes to Gloucester's house to find his servant Cauis locked in the stocks. Lear demands to see Cornwall and Regan and he acts all nice to them to make sure that they stay on his side (Even though, there not). Goneirl then arrives who is welcomed by Oswald where Lear slaps him again for the second time. Goneril and Regan keep trying to get Lear to decline the amount of knights he has until he is left with none. Lear then leaves the castle by himself and goes out onto the Heath where a vicious storm is beginning so he is locked out of the castle by his own two daughters.
Act 3: Scene 2:
Lear and his Fool are out in the Heath in the middle of the storm where Lear tries to fight the storm with his words. He wants all the elements to come down and end the world altogether and he compares his vicious daughters to this vicious storm. Kent then arrives and tries to bring Lear to shelter. Lear only decides to come and go get shelter because he is worried that his Fool in cold and wet from the storm (Lear's first time in the play to be concerned about some but himself).
Act 3: Scene 4:
Lear, Kent and the Fool arrive at the hovel where Lear realizes that as a King, he failed to look after the poor people of his kingdom who now have to suffer in his miserable storm. They then meet Edgar disguised as Poor Tom who Lear believes has suffered because he was mistreated by his daughters. He is fascinated by Poor Tom and decides to listen to his "wise" words. Gloucester then finds them and tries to bring them all to a farmhouse he has set up for them. Lear insists on his bring his new "phyilospher" along.
Act 3: Scene 6:
They all arrive at the farmhouse and while Gloucester is gone, Lear sets up an imaginary court where Goneril and Regan are on trial for their mistreatment of Lear. Lear then soon falls asleep but is unaware that he is now being taken to Dover where Cordelia's french troops are and now because Lear's life is at risk.
The Earl of Gloucester:
Act 1: Scene 1:
Gloucester introduces his illegitimate son, Edmund, to the Earl of Kent while they are waiting in the court for King Lear to make a big announcement. Gloucester is confused by Lear's decision to divide the kingdom between his three daughters. Gloucester is seeing to the Duke of Burgundy and the King of France while all the love test drama takes place. He is very confused about everything once he learns what happened.
Act 1: Scene 2:
When the confused Gloucester arrives back at his castle, he see's Edmund hide a letter from him so Gloucester orders him to hand it over. Gloucester thinks that this is a letter from his actual son, Edgar, who wants Edmund to help him in killing Gloucester so they can have all his riches. Gloucester is angered and betrayed by this and wants Edgar instantly arrested. But Edmund tells him to wait and he say's that he is going to place Gloucester somewhere where he can listen to him and Edgar having a conversation about the whole trying to kill Gloucester thing.
Act 2: Scene 1:
Gloucester enters the court yard with his guards to find Edmund has been injured in a sword fight while trying to capture Edgar. Gloucester is now very proud of Edmund and now wants to make his legitimate so he can now gain Gloucester's inheritance. Gloucester tells Cornwall and Regan about Edmund's bravery when they arrive. Regan has now come to Gloucester for advice on how she can handle her father, Lear.
Act 2: Scene 2:
After Caius (Kent) and Oswald have their fallout when they both reach Gloucester's castle with letters from their masters. Cornwall and Regan have the disguised of Earl of Kent placed in the stocks. Gloucester begs them not to do it because he knows that this will anger the King, but he is placed in the stocks anyway. Gloucester apologizes to Kent and then makes his way back inside.
Act 2: Scene 4:
When Lear arrives and demands to speak with Cornwall and Regan about why his servant Caius was put in the stocks. Gloucester uses the excuse that they are in bed because they are tired from their long journey. But soon, Gloucester goes and get's them.
When Lear leaves after all his knights have been taken away from him, Gloucester does try to go after him but is forced to come back inside by Goneirl, Regan and Cornwall who then lock Lear out of the castle and leave him on the Heath in the mdidle of a storm.
Act 3: Scene 3:
Gloucester has now lost control of his own castle and he has now decided to go out into the storm and look for Lear on the heath. He trusts in Edmund to tell the Duke that he has gone to bed and he also tells Edmund that he has received a letter from Cordelia making him aware of the french forces in Dover.
Act 3: Scene 4:
Gloucester has now found Lear on the Heath with Caius (Kent), the Fool and Edgar, his son, disguised as Poor Tom. Gloucester is unaware that this mad beggar is his son Edgar. Gloucester convinces Lear to come to a farmhouse with him where they can be safe from the storm. Lear insists on bringing Poor Tom with them, so Gloucester agrees and they all make their way there.
Act 3: Scene 6:
Gloucester has now taken Lear, Caius (Kent), the Fool and Poor Tom (Edgar) to the safe farmhouse and he leaves them there for a bit. He then returns to tell them he has transport to take them all to Dover to Cordelia's french camp to keep Lear safe since people are now out to have him killed.
Act 3: Scene 7:
Gloucester has now been captured by Cornwall's guards to be interrogated. At first, Gloucester refuses to leak any information he has about Lear but he then realizes his situation and says that he is safe in Dover. Gloucester says he did this because he could no longer bear to watch Lear being tortured by his own children which leads to Cornwall gouging out both Gloucester's eyes. The blind Gloucester has his eyes widened when he calls out for Edmund's help where Regan reveals that Edmund was the one who informed them about Cordelia's letter and Gloucester see's that Edgar must have been framed by Edmund all along. Gloucester is then thrown out of his own castle.

Goneril:
Act 1: Scene 1:
Lear announces that he is going to divide his kingdom between his three daughters. To decide who is going to get the largest piece of the kingdom, Lear wants to see which one of his daughters loves him the most. Goneril takes part in this and is granted half the kingdom because of Cordelia refusing to take part. Goneril then speaks with her younger sister Regan on how Lear is getting worse and they must do something about it quickly.
Act 1: Scene 3:
Goneril complains to her main servant Oswald on how Lear and his knights are mistreating her and her castle so she orders Oswald to treat Lear with disrespect.
Act 1: Scene 4:
Goneril then meets with Lear to try and convince him to get rid of half his knights and Lear is shocked at his daughter trying to tell him what to do because as a king, he has never been told what to do. Lear calls Goneril some bad name and then leaves only to come when he realizes that half his knights have already been dismissed. Act 3: Scene 7:
Edmund has been ordered to bring Goneril back home to Albany's castle, so they leave while troops have been sent out to capture Gloucester.
Act 4: Scene 2:
Goneril arrives home where Oswald reveals that Albany has been acting strange about these recent events, so Goneril, who has now fallen for Edmund, sends him back to Gloucester's house. Goneril meets Albany who verbally attacks her because of how she has mistreated Lear and she then calls him a coward for not stepping up now that the french are on British soil. In this scene, we learn that Cornwall has died due to his injuries in Act 3: Scene 7. Goneirl is happy about this because now it's easier for her to gain control of Regan's kingdom but now Edmund is hiding back to Regan who is all by herself.
Regan:
Act 1: Scene 1:

When Gloucester is captured and brought back to his castle, he is interrogated by Regan and Cornwall who want to know where Lear is. When Cornwall gouges out one of Gloucester's eyes, a servant steps in to defend Gloucester by fighting Cornwall. Regan kills this servant by stabbing him and Gloucester's other eye is gouged out. Regan reveals to Gloucester that Edmund was the one who informed them about Gloucester's betrayal when Gloucester calls out for Edmund's help. While Gloucester is being taken out of his castle, Regan takes the badly wounded Cornwall for help.
Act 4: Scene 5:
Oswald arrives at Gloucester's castle with a letter for Edmund where he meets Regan who wants to know what's in Goneirl's letter. Oswald refuses to hand it over, so he goes looking for Edmund elsewhere. Regan says that Gloucester is to be killed if he is at all seen.
Edmund:
Act 1: Scene 1:

Gloucester see's this letter and wants Edgar arrested, but Edmund tells him to wait and he say's that he is going to place Gloucester somewhere where he can listen to him and Edgar having a conversation about the whole trying to kill Gloucester thing. Edgar arrives when Gloucester leaves and Edmund makes it look like Edgar has doing something to upset their father so he advises Edmund to stay hidden for a bit.
Act 2: Scene 1:
Edmund stages a fake fight with Edgar after he says that Regan and Cornwall are now upset with Edgar, so Edgar escapes and Edmund cuts himself to make it look like that he tried to capture Edgar. Gloucester is now very proud of Edmund and now wants to make his legitimate so he can now gain Gloucester's inheritance. Gloucester tells Cornwall and Regan about Edmund's bravery when they arrive.
