Renaissance
Art
Art created a stress on harmony and peace. It was also a good way to combine culture and people. It showed a different view of men and put it into more of an individualistic perspective compared to seeing a group of people as bad or good.
In a way we're living in a renaissance today because of social media. We've got different ways to share our culture around the world and show our strengths and weaknesses, but we also aren't because the renaissance is a one time event I feel because it was the start of all the sharing of culture so us sharing it now is more of a continuation or just a normal thing to do.

Critique: This art falls under painting because it was Michelangelo's painting on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. This art piece expresses the creation of Adam depicted by Michelangelo. It's supposed to be realistic, but because nobody has actually seen it happen it adds a splash of abstract to it.
-
Critique: This is a 3d printed glass. This is realistic because it is actually useful. This glass was created by Neri Oxman, Mediated Matter Group, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It's impressive because it is some of the first work of 3d printing glass. They've made a few more of these, but I picked this one because this is something I would find in my house.

Why: They had a major influence on the growth of the Italian Renaissance through their payments of the arts and humanism.
Humanism
Humanism is living not because of your belief in religion, but you're living because you put power in something else like money or power. It was important in the renaissance because the church had a lot of power during that time, but now people have humanism so the church doesn't matter as much.
Examples: an interest in studying literature and art from antiquity. a belief in the importance and power of education to create useful citizens.a rejection of scholasticism.
Humanism is still around today because it is an idea that we should have more value and needs into other things than just religion. For example the belief that the person creates their own set of ethics.
