ANIMAL RESPONSES - Coggle Diagram
ANIMAL RESPONSES
-
-
-
fight or flight response
-
-
action of adrenaline
- adrenaline binds to receptor on cell surface membrane
- this activates enzyme called (adenylul cyclase) which converts ATP----->cAMP
- cAMP activates other enzymes inside the cell (protein kinases) which phosphorylate other enezymes activating them
- glycogen----->glucose by these enzymes
-
reflexes
knee-jerk relex
- leg is tapped below kneecap, which stretches patella tendon
- this stretches the quadriceps (extensor) muscle causing an AP to be generated in sensory neurone
- relay neurone is located in spinal cord
- a motor neurone causes quadriceps to contract and the motor neurone of the hamstring muscle is inhibited relaxing it
blinking reflex
-
-
- impulse passes through relay neurone within brainstem
- impulse sent along motor neurone to eyelid muscles of both eyes
- eyelid muscles close eyelids
-
