Burning and Combustion - Coggle Diagram
Burning and Combustion
Oxygen
Reaction
Emmits
Light
Heat
The reaction only happens with oxygen
No other gasses bond with the substance
Combustion
Burning
Naming
Substance + oxygen
Substance oxide
Uses
Combustion
Fuel
Hydrogen
Good fuel
If mixed
In lots of air
Explosion
Lightest gas
It was used to fly airships
Some would explode
We don't use it anymore
Heat
AIr (O2)
We burn some fuels to produce heat
We burn some fuels to cook
How to stop a fire
To stop a fire remove
Air (O2)
Extinguishers suffocate the fire removing the air supply
Heat
To remove heat use a strong water jet
Fuel
Bulldozers are used to remove trees in a line
Wax
Takes a long time to turn into gas
The fire melts the wax
The wick soaks up molten wax
The flame heats up the liquid wax around the wick
It turns the liquid into vapour
This is efficient as it has to light the area around it for lots of time
the wax vapour mixes with air and burns
This produces carbon particles that glow yellow in heat
As more air mixes the carbon also burns
Air
When all the oxygen
Burns
Reacts
The candle turns off as there is no more available O2
