States can not pass laws that overrule laws passed by congress

congress gets the first say at laws so if a state passes a law that overrules a congress passed law the state passed law is outlawed

Spain gave america their claims in Florida and the Oregon territory

this case shows nationalism buy doing what was best for Spain so that we didn't attack them for Florida

President Monroe did what was best for the nation before what what was best for him

missouri wanted to become a state but it would tip the scales on free and slave states so the president made a series of agreements known as the missouri compromise
