The 7 areas of learning,personal,physical development,social and emotional development,communication and language.

Communication and language development - giving children opportunities to speak and listen in a range of situations and to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves.

Literacy development – encouraging children to read and write, both through listening to othersreading and beginning to read and write themselves. Children must be given access to a wide range of reading materials – books, poems, and other written materials, to ignite their interest.
maths-providing children with opportunities to practice and improve their skills shapes,numbers,counting,calculation,problem solving etc.
Understanding the world- helping children become aware of the physical world around them and the opportunities they can explore.
Physical development - providing opportunities for young children to be active and to develop their co-ordination, control, and movement. Children must be helped to understand the importance of physical activity, and to make healthy food choices.

Personal, social and emotional development - helping children to develop a positive sense of themselves, and others; to form positive develop respect for others; to develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings; to understand appropriate behaviour in groups; and to have confidence in their own abilities.

staff child ratios; For every child aged 2 and under their should be a 1:3 ratio. for children aged 2-5 the adult to child ratio should be 1:8
managing behavior-practitioners are responsible for managing the childrens behavior in a appropriate ways.
health- good health of children must be promoted aswell as the training for the staff about medicine etc. there must also be a policie about giving out medicine.
when the children are provided with school meals, the meals must be nutricious and healthy.
A first aid kit should be textreachable at all times to use when needed.
child protection- children learn better and more successful when they are happy and healthy and also when their individual needs are met,this is why every child has a key person.
practitioners must be alert of any concerns to do with the child and report them immediatly to ensure the child gets the help needed.They must also provide policies and procedures in order to safe guard the children.
safety on the premesis- the providers must ensure that the premesis are suitable for the children and apply any requirements that will help children individual needs.
no smoking under any circumstances, there must also be an appropriate fire detector.
Special Educational Needs-There must be arrangements to support children with SEN or disabilities.
all maintained schools must identify a designated member of staff to be the special needs co-ordinator which is SENCO.
Information and records- They must maintain all records and share information only when and where appropriate.All records must be easily accessible but kept in a safe, confidential space.
Parents and carers must be allowed access to their childs records. ALL staff need to be ensured that they need to understand the need to protect the privacy of children in their care.
