paragraphing
"Habiba had died."
The sentence "Habiba had died" can symbolize how fast her death was due to the length of the sentence, it can symbolize that her death was painless, but she died alone, hence the line, "lonely death"
"It was rotting; she was rotting."
The use of a short sentence creates the tension and builds up the reality and displays it as a fact which portrays a clear yet moving imagery in the reader's mind which strikes them as a shocking view which is what the writer is aiming for.
The use of a semicolon, forces the reader to take a moment and pause, it is slightly longer than a comma and yet shorter than a full stop and that can show the fraction of emotions until you absorb what he is saying, she is dying. The use of the transition from "it" to "she" is a very remarkable way of showing how she was seen as nothing, she was lying there like any other person was as if their life values nothing, and then the word "She" which provides a sense of connection between the woman that is rotting and the writer creating an overwhelming emotion and creates a powerful realization to the reader that this is actually a person suffering a long painful death.
