MAGNETISM
MAGNETIC FIELD
A vector field that describes the magnetic influence on moving electric charges, electric currents and magnetic materials
A charge that is moving in a magnetic field experiences a force perpendicular to its own velocity and to the magnetic field

THE HALL EFFECT
A current-carrying wire is placed in a magnetic field, there is a sideways force on the electrons in the wire.
This tends to push them to one side and results in a potential difference from one side of the wire to the other; this is called the HALL EFFECT
The emf differs in sign of the charge carriers; this is how it was first determined that the charge carriers in ordinary conductors are ngeatively charged
