Marine Reserves
These are areas of variable size. Their priority is the preservation of ecosystems and marine species related to these surroundings.
In this category we can find: San Francisco Galley, El Pelado and Galapagos
National Parks
Preservation of this area more than 10.000 hectares. The objective is preserving the landscape. There are 11 National Park.
Galapagos, Llanganates, Sangay, Machalilla, Cayambe-Coca, Cotopaxi, El Cajas, Yacuri, Sumaco-Napo-Galeras, Podocarpus and Yasuni.
Flora and fauna production reserves
5000 to 10.000 hectares. Objective preservation from flora and fauna.
We can find Puntilla de Santa Elena, El Salado mangroves , Chimborazo and Cuyabeno.
Biological Reserves
10 000 hectares. The mission is preservation of complete ecosystems and their species .
There are five biological reserve: Limoncocha, Colonso Chalupas, The Condor, The Quimi and Cerro El Plateado.
Natural Areas
Cover between 5000 to 10.000 hectares purpose is preserve the landscape.
These areas are: Villamil beaches, Parque Lago, Los Samanes, Isla Santay, El Boliche and Quimsacocha.
Wildlife Shelters
Are smaller, 5000 hectares, in Ecuador there are ten wildlife shelters.
La Chiquita, Río Estuary, Esmeraldas, Río Muisne Estuary, El Zarza, El Morro Mangroves, El Pambilar, Corazón y Fragatas Island, Marino Costera Pacoche, Santa Clara Island and Pasochoa.
Ecological Reserves
Their objective is preserving the genetic material , the ecological diversity, landscape beauties and the environmental regulation.
The ecological reserves from Ecuador are: Churute Mangroves, Arenillas, El Ángel, Cayapas Mataje Mangroves, Chindul Mache, Cotacachi-Cayapas, Antisana, Los Illinizas and Bermejo Cofán.
Geobotanical Reserves
Mission is protect the natural state of the different ecosystems.
We can only find the reserve called Pululahua
