Functions
Works with Vitamin B12 to form red blood cells
Maintains the immune system by helping white blood cells to fights off illness and infection
Needed during pregnancy to fom the brain of the foetus and to close the end of the spinal cord
Deficiency
Mild cases of deficiency will lead to feelings of tiredness and fatigue due to lack of red blood cells. In severe cases, Anaemia may occur
Increases susceptibility to illness and infection such as colds and flu
Spina Bifida occurs when the end of the spine fails to close, causing paralysis of the lower limbs
